SoundTrack_Cologne - the Congress for Music and Sound in Films and Media

Four packed days - new programme elements, new partners and new prizes: SoundTrack_Cologne, the Cologne Congress for Music and Sound in Films and Media, takes place for the fifth time from 20 to 23 November 2008. For the first time, SoundTrack_Cologne will award an Honour Prize: it goes to Peter Thomas, the legendary composer of film music (RAUMPATROUILLE ORION - SPACE PATROL ORION). The next new prize is the German Television Music Prize, awarded in cooperation with the Cologne Conference. A major item, including a master class, is dedicated to the LOLA prizewinner Ali N. Askin (for the music to LEROY), continuing the successful cooperation with the German Film Academy. In cooperation with the German Film Academy, SoundTrack_Cologne also presents the two runners up for the BEST FILM MUSIC at the German Film Awards 2008, composers Annette Focks (EIN FLIEHENDES PFERD - A RUNAWAY HORSE) and Ralf Wengenmayr (LISSI UND DER WILDE KAISER - LISSI AND THE WILD EMPEROR). They will each give a live commentary on a film whose music they composed. Four series of film programmes with the title SEE THE SOUND is a further new event at SoundTrack_Cologne.
SoundTrack_Cologne is aimed at professionals and at members of the public who are interested in films and music. The programme offers over 30 different events with an emphasis on culture-aesthetic, legal, commercial and technical aspects, the European University Meeting and 20 film programmes. The highlight is the awards ceremony on Saturday 22 November and the party afterwards. Season tickets can be booked at www.soundtrackcologne.de, the price starts at 20 euros for students.
