They are worth listening to Ð the guests of SOUNDTRACK_COLOGNE 7.0. The opening will be attended by Oscar winner Jan A.P. Kaczmarek and representatives of German and European composersÕ associations: Alfons Karabuda (ECSA), Bernard Grimaldi (FFACE), John Groves (CC), Rainer Fabich (DKV) and Matthias Hornschuh (mediamusic) - time for some initial statements about media and politics.

How do I talk about music with composers? (for directors)
Hansjörg Kohli (director of the music editorial team Fernsehspiel at the ZDF) will train 15 directors how to communicate about (film)music. Application required!
Proper pitching (for composers)
Sibylle Kurz, experienced pitching trainer, will develop an optimal self-portrayal with 10 film music composers. Her workshop will provide guidance in how to present individual strengths focussed and in line with the market requirements. Application required!

LecturersÕ Convention of the European University Meeting
As part of the University Meeting SoundTrack_Cologne invites the leading film music exponents of the European university scene to come together and exchange ideas. Among others four new courses of study will be presented which have been created in the last two years. On top of that currents trends will be discussed as well as changes in structure and curriculum, successful cooperation models and future developments.

DVSM Convention Music in Film and the Media
Since 1991 the symposiums of the Confederation of Musicology Students (DVSM) have provided vital impulses for their subject and its discussion. The convention considers itself an invitation to discussion Ð topics include, among others, the significance of music in commercials aimed at children, the sound of the CHANEL No.5 scent or reconciling the generations via music in SHREK. Project Pitching
Composers meet directors
Here the composers of the pitching workshop by Sibylle Kurz and the directors of the briefing workshop by Hansjörg Kohli (cf. TOOLS) get the chance to use the skills they have acquired: The directors will bring with them their film projects, scripts and ideas for films. The composers will present compositions, audiovisual concepts and musical ideas. Participation also possible on an observer only basis!

Workshop Talk: Millennium Trilogy
Jacob Groth became known internationally with his score for the millennium trilogy. For the three movie versions of Stieg LarssonÕs books, ÔThe Girl with the Dragon TattooÕ, ÔThe Girl who Played with FireÕ and ÔThe Girl who kicked the HornetsÕ NestÕ, the Danish composer created a subtle and sombre sound universe. Karsten Fundal, another major player of the Scandinavian music scene and composer of FLAME AND CITRON, discusses his work and the breaking of all boundaries of genre with him.

Mischen (im)possible? - Mixing (im)possible?
The sound and musical concepts of THE GREEN WAVE
THE GREEN WAVE documents the demonstrations and riots in Iran: blogs, original sound recordings, films made using mobile telephones were turned into a film with the help of animation, speakers, music and extremely elaborate sound editing. Ali Samadi Ahadi (director), Ali N. Askin (msic), Tatjana Jacob (sound design) und Olaf Mierau (sound supervisor) give an account of the enormous mixing session and explain their concept in detail.
