Uwe Flade is one of Germany's best-known music video directors. Besides clips for Rammstein, Sportfreunde Stiller or 2Raumwohnung, the last years saw, among others, international productions for Depeche Mode, Franz Ferdinand and A-HA. Flade shows some of his videos, talks about how they came about as well as the demands placed upon director and medium. In co-operation with Unlimited.

BERLIN - LOST IN TIME AND SPACE

In the 70s and 80s the unique situation in Berlin gave rise to a lively music scene in both the Eastern and Western part of the city. Be it Einstürzende Neubauten, Nina Hagen or David Bowie, their art thrived here during the limited time span between the construction and the fall of the Berlin wall. The documentary traces the legends of the old Berlin and the sound of the separated city.

Film with live commentary FINDING NEVERLAND

The music for this film won Sound_Track Cologne star guest Jan Kaczmarek the Oscar: Based on the creation of "Peter Pan" the film tells the tale of an unsuccessful writer (Johnny Depp) who excels thanks to his friendship with a widow (Kate Winslet) and her children. Like in the extras on DVDs Kaczmarek will provide a live commentary of his music for this film.

SYMPHONY X TRIO - Concert TONSPUREN

American composer, conductor and pianist ARI BENJAMIN MEYERS will present his work SYMPHONY X, for the first time as a trio version. The energy charged work can be described as Minimal Music 2.0, featuring repetitive and multi-layered string and wind patterns, distinctive electric guitars, electronic noise and drum rhythms. During the live performance Meyers and Max Loderbauer will electronically remix the orchestral parts. The visual level is created by video artist LILLEVAN.

Nick Cave, Primitive Calculators, Michael Hutchence: what they all have in common is that they originated from the Australian underground scene of the late 70s. Lowenstein lets the protagonists of this era have their say and recreates the post-punk era with its music, its fashion, philosophy and legendary clubs, but also its drugs and excesses. Christian Bruhn - the winner of the Sound_Track Cologne Achievement Award in conversation

WICKI, HEIDI, CAPTAIN FUTURE, TIM THYLER, SILAS - This composer has created the sound track of an entire generation: Besides countless compositions for television 75 year old Bruhn has written around 2000 songs (MARMOR, STEIN UND EISEN BRICHT) and about 150 childrens songs. Before receiving the SoundTrack_Cologne achievement award in the evening he will talk to Andreas Weidinger about his career.

The Music of CASTLEVANIA - workshop talk games

The focus is not on the latest technological developments of the games industry but on the music, which is in no way inferior to great film music: Composer scar Araujo and orchestrator Ferran Cruixent (Barcelona) will talk about how they created their music - featuring large orchestra and choir - for the computer game CASTELVANIA. The remake of the cult game will be released by Konami in the autumn of 2010 as an action-adventure.
